Suzanne McAllister, PhD
Suzanne McAllister, PhD, fifth generation New Yorker, got her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University. Her dissertation was on chronic career indecision. Suzanne began her clinical work in 1984 as a volunteer with a group of psychologists who taught interpersonal communication skills to couples and groups. She then worked as a therapist and group leader in an aftercare facility for people, and families, in recovery from substance abuse. Suzanne had a private practice in Manhattan from 1986 to 1994; and opened her Jenkintown office in 2007. She worked for several years with a management consulting firm (RHR International) and has experience consulting to business in assessment-based organizational and individual development, executive coaching, succession planning and team building. Currently, she is Program Development consultant with Animals and Society, and is assisting in their succession planning. Suzanne has had a consistent meditation practice since 2004. She has trained, and been on retreat with, Jon Kabat Zinn, Tara Brach, Larry Rosenberg, and Thich Nhat Hanh, among others. She completed the Penn Program for Mindfulness in 2009; and uses mindfulness and mind/body practices with her clients. Suzanne studied interior design and feng shui, and helps people to de-clutter, get organized, and recreate clear and lively spaces using what they own. She has run many groups – including The Artist’s Way, and Tara Brach’s Radical Acceptance. Suzanne works with adults over the age of 18.
